Cleaning Carpets
Your carpet suffers a great deal problems, from regular treading on, mud, dirt, food, to deep red wine stains. All this will ultimately make your carpet and entire house appear unattractive and unappealing if not maintained and cleaned regularly, either by basic vacuuming, or more in depth procedures that tackle the stains direct:
Basic carpet-cleaning requires a regularly vacuum once a week, which will ultimately uphold the cleanliness and overall appearance of your carpet; more regularly-used areas of your carpet such as hallways and stairs should be maintained more often, twice, maybe three times a week should suffice.
To really get a decent finish when thoroughly cleaning your carpet, then contemplate purchasing - or hiring when needed - a steam cleaner, these useful appliances dig deep into the carpet itself and using heat, steam and ultimately evaporation to lift off even the toughest of spills, stains and dried on, ground in dirt!
Tea and coffee stains can lethal to your carpet if not acted on immediately. Scrub the stain instantly with a sponge soaked in hot soapy water and then rinse afterwards with standard clean (non-soapy) cold water to remove the excess mess and bubbles.
Another method to lift off those nasty tea and coffee stains, is to mix together a decent amount of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) with some warm water and scrub the mark with a sponge in the same way as before.
Red wine stains sink deep into the carpet, spread like crazy and are the most difficult and violent stains to remove, but by soaking up the majority of it with a sponge and then pouring sparkling water (soda) over it and leaving it for a minute or two will absorb the red-devil up with ease. After it absorbs, mop up the rest with a clean towel and then repeat the same procedure until the stain vanishes!
Fused in chewing gum is almost impossible to remove, however, placing a few ice cubes over the sticky area will solidify it, enabling you to simply peel off in one hard lump.
Eggs are delicate items and when accidentally dropped, can cause quite a mess, which tends to be tricky to clear up. If this happens, simply cover the slime with a decent amount of salt, which will then coagulate the egg and harden it, enabling you to lift it up easily in one singular piece.
If you have a real fire, then transporting coal from its storage place to the fire itself can be a filthy task; if you accidentally get soot on your carpet, do not be enticed into wiping and cleaning it with a wet cloth, as this will only assist the thick, black stain into spreading and soaking deeper into your carpet. Instead, try smothering the mark with a fair bit of salt and then use a stiff brush (hard bristles) to sweep the excess soot, which has adhered to the salt away. Repeat this same procedure a few times - whilst each time more salt is lifted - until the mark is completely gone.
